Journal characteristics
General
One Health Mycology is an international journal published by the non-profit Foundation Atlas of Clinical Fungi. The Foundation is registered under KvK number 71496971. Its aim is the advance of and education in mycological science related to human and animal health, as deposited at Notary Office van Limburg Stirum, Koninginneweg 2, Hilversum, The Netherlands. Revenues of the Foundation are generated by educational activities and donations and are re-invested in accordance with the Foundation’s aim. No advertising or commercial parties are involved. The journal is devoted to mycology with relation to human, animal, plant and environmental health. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity in the content to be published. Submissions are subjected to plagiarism detection software. All papers are peer-reviewed by independent reviewers selected by the editorial board.
Ownership
Foundation Atlas of Clinical Fungi, Neuweg 197, 1214GP Hilversum, The Netherlands. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mycological research related to the well-being of humans, animals, and biodiversity, and to disseminating the knowledge derived thereof.
Article-processing charges (APC)
No Article Processing Charges (APCs) are required for publication. One Health Mycology does not charge submission fees, article-processing charges, page charges, colour charges, publication fees, or fees for supplementary materials. All accepted articles are published open access free of charge to authors. There are no optional paid publication services required for acceptance or publication.

Copyright is retained by the author. The publisher is granted only the rights necessary for publication and distribution.

Archiving
One Health Mycology is a member of CrossRef, and all published papers have a unique Doi in the CrossRef system.
Publication
Two issues are published yearly, starting 1 January and 1 July of each year. The number of pages per issue is undetermined and may vary with the number of submissions and the size of manuscripts. Supplementary files are allowed and will be accessible as additional PDFs on the website.
Articles are published online after editorial acceptance, production, and final approval. Each article is assigned to a volume and issue and should include article-level information such as article type, title, authors, affiliations, DOI, publication date, abstract, keywords, full-text access, PDF access, and citation information.
Peer review process
All papers are subjected to single-anonymized peer-review by at least two experts in the field. Peer-review is defined as obtaining advice on individual manuscripts from experts in the field, selected by members of the editorial board assigned to this task by the Editor-in-Chief. Recommendations are sent to the Editor-in-Chief for final decision on acceptance, rejection or resubmission. Editors will be objective, and reviewers should not have any conflict of interest. All papers under review should be treated as confidential. All manuscripts are verified for plagiarism and AI-contribution.
All submitted manuscripts receive editorial assessment. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal scope, do not meet basic scholarly standards, lack required ethical information, or do not comply with the journal’s policies may be declined before external peer review.
Reviewer recommendations are advisory. Final editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or by an assigned editor acting under the journal’s editorial oversight. Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, rejection with invitation to resubmit, or rejection.
Editors and editorial board members must declare conflicts of interest that may affect, or be perceived to affect, their handling of a manuscript. When an editor has a conflict of interest, the manuscript will be assigned to another editor without such a conflict. Editorial board members who submit manuscripts to the journal are not involved in the editorial assessment, reviewer selection, peer review process, or decision-making for their own submissions.
Responsibilities
Editors responsibilities: acknowledge receipt of manuscripts in a timely manner, arrange fair and timely reviews, handle manuscripts confidentially and make the final decision concerning acceptance or rejection; respect the intellectual independence of authors; make known any conflicts of interest that might arise; where editors are authors of a manuscript, it should be passed to another editor for processing; not use work of others for their own research; not use referees which an author has requested to be excluded, and deal fairly with appeals against rejection of manuscripts.
Reviewers responsibilities: treat manuscripts as confidential; destroy reviewed manuscripts; not review papers outside of their field of expertise; review manuscripts objectively and in a timely fashion; inform the editor of any conflict of interest; inform the editor of any similarity between the submitted manuscript and other published work; ensure that all materials remain confidential; not use submitted materials for their own research; alert the editor of plagiarized material in the manuscript; alert the editor of any conflicts of interest.
Authors responsibilities: not breach copyright rules; obtain permission from the relevant publishers to publish previously published data or figures; give due recognition to published work via correct citation; inform the editor of related manuscripts under consideration for publication; provide copies of these related manuscripts, and of manuscripts cited as “in press”; ensure that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere simultaneously; remove all personal criticism of other scientists; give due acknowledgement to contributions; declare all sources of funding for the work. Authors are: 1) obliged to participate in the peer review process; 2) all authors should have significantly contributed to the research; 3) obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes; 4) must list references, financial support; 5) confirm that the work has not been submitted elsewhere for publication (irrespective of language), or does not present any conflict of interest.
Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern: Authors are obliged to notify the editorial office if they identify significant errors in their published work. The journal may publish corrections when errors affect the accuracy or transparency of the article but do not invalidate the main findings. Retractions may be issued when published findings are unreliable due to misconduct or major error, or when the article involves plagiarism, duplicate publication, unethical research, or other serious problems. Expressions of concern may be issued when serious concerns exist but an investigation is ongoing or inconclusive. Retraction, correction, and expression of concern notices will be linked to the affected article where applicable.
Appeals and complaints: Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a clear scientific justification. Appeals are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or by an editor not involved in the original decision where appropriate. Complaints about editorial process, ethical conduct, peer review, or published content should be sent to the editorial office and will be handled fairly and confidentially.
